Are there any books similar to "where there's smoke" by Terra Little"?

I was reading a book called "where there's smoke" by Terra Little, and it was about how a father that didn't even know he had a son at one point stepped in and saved his sixteen year old son from the streets. He had to show him tough love a few times, giving him the disclipline that the son obviously didn't want but did need, but he also showed him what having a father was really like. Giving advice, teaching him to drive, being a dad. This was an urban book, and I'm really not into them like i used to be because I feel like a lot of them are all the same. The boyfriend's a drug dealer, the girlfriend's robbing a bank, or trying to get rich off of some *****. This book was so much differen't than all the rest i've read. Yeah the father started off as a drug dealer in the beginning, but after he got caught, and got the choice to either go to jail, or serve is country in the military, he went with option number two, later becoming a school teacher. His son's mother started off as a drug feine, later getting her life together for the sake of herself and her son. Her son "Isaiah" lost all respect for her when she told him about her hurtful past, and it begin to show quite clearly. He cursed at her, came into the house whenever he felt like it, and basically walked all over her. She had no other choice but to find his father and beg him to step in and set this boy straight. This book really touched me. Isaiah was like a whole different' person by the end and I was just wondering if there were any other books out there that were similar to this one. I know there must be, but I don't even know where to begin my search to find them. So if anyone can help me out, that would be so great. Thanks.
