Using a lawnmower engine as an outboard via a water pump?

Jet drive outboards are not new, and really, thats all you are building. Efficiency will be determined by the type of pump you use. My first thought was a washing machine pump, but that may be too small for your purpose. Something like a small construction sump pump would be better.
