What are some good sea adventures?

I hesitate to recommend it (not only because it's a series of 8 books approaching 3,000 pages), but Neal Stephenson's 'The Baroque Cycle' has the most exciting sea adventures I've read. No one would blame you if you didn't feel like reading it, but it's my favorite "book".
