Belly on peircing .?

after hearing wild stories of how people peirce themselves and using what these days, its still safe enough to use a kit right? im planning on using that for myself. i just need to know all the procaussions and everything, about when i get it done and how to get it done. and all the instructions that come with getting one. please and thanks(:
