Are Republicans choosing a poor time to decide they are going to be fiscally responsible? ?

Voting against the stimulus bill because it is too bloated with money after running up huge deficits for six years seems like a poor choice. I understand where they are coming from, as nobody likes their tax dollars being spent, but there are Americans suffering tremendously. if Republicans are seen as not supporting legislation to help the Americans losing their jobs and homes, this could get pretty ugly. You can stand up to an unpopular president, but standing up to a popular one in a time of peril is political suicide
