Blindness from septum piercing?

My friend has pierced a few people's septums, and had someone pierce her own all with the right stuff (clamps, sterilized needle, etc). She even pierced one girl's with a safety pin. They've all turned out okay, nothing has gotten infected. As long as everything is sterile and you actually clean it with saline solution you should be fine. If you want to hide it, just flip it up. It works out nicely if you have a black ring too, you can't tell at all when you have it flipped up.
